Section 144 of CrPC imposed around Manohar International Airport, surrounding villages

Panaji: North Goa District Administration has imposed section 144 of CrPC around Manohar International Airport in North Goa and villages surrounding it in  view of the call for blocking the road given by those who have lost their land for this project.

District Collector Mamu Hage in the order issued on Tuesday has said it has been brought to the notice by Superintendent of Police (North Goa) that the land losers for the Manohar International Airport in Pernem taluka and likewise in Mopa, Warkhand, Nagzar and Chandel are protesting under the banner of “Together for Pednekars.”

The order reads that these protestors are demanding that they may be given first    preference to register their Yellow Black Taxi and also a separate counter at Manohar International Airport, Mopa. And not allow Ola and Uber taxis to ply from this facility.

The collector has said that the SP North has given information reliable inputs are  received that the protestors are likely to gather in large numbers at Nagzar Sports ground and likely to disrupt the free flow of traffic and create law and order situation on the route from Manohar International Airport, Mopa to Sukhekulan Junction at Dhargal.

The order further mentions that in view of G20 summit, there is likely possibility that activities of the association (protestors) may lead to obstruction to free flow of vehicles and general public.

“Therefore, he (SP North) has requested to impose section 144 of CrPC in the area of road leading from Mopa Airport to Sukhekulan junction at Dhargal,” the Collector has said.

The section is also imposed in 500 metres around Manohar International Airport and also in the villages of Nagzar, Varkhand, Uguve, Chandel-Hassapur and Casarvanem, the order reads.

The Collector has said that the order would be in force for next sixty days.
