Panaji: NGO Savera has raised its objection before Inspector General Prison to the parole granted for Mahanand Naik who has been convicted for life imprisonment in connection with the murder and a rape cases.
The NGO has said that one of the victim of Mahanand has approached them and also to local police that if he is out on parole, he might harm her.
Savera chief Tara Kerkar has said that Mahanand has been on the parole for 21 days. He is accused of killing around 15 women after befriending them. He is also charged of murders and rapes. He has been sentenced to undergo life imprisonment in two separate murder cases.
The NGO has said that a person with such a history of killing and raping women not to be out on parole as he is threat to those who have given witnesses and families of the victims.
“It has come to our notice St Anthony High School Monte Guirim has applied for his parole. I wonder what personal interest does the above institution has got in doing so,” the NGO has said.
Kerkar has said that one of the victim has approached us that she fears that if he is out he will harm her.
