Curchorem: One person was shot dead while another one was critically injured in a gun firing by unknown person at Curchorem village in South Goa.
Superintendent of Police (Coastal) Sammy Tavares told reporters that the incident was reported to Curchorem police at around 1.30 am.
“We received a call around 1.30 am from health centre at Curchorem stating that two persons were brought with injuries of which one was dead and one was critically injured,” Tavares said.
He said that Yusuf Alam (23) was brought in dead at the Health Centre while his associate Mohammad Sahu (33) was critically injured.
Tavares said that three men had ventured to mine sand from the River bed when the incident happened. Third person was left unhurt, he added.
The SP said that the motive behind the attack, the attacker and the weapon used to fire is yet to be ascertained by police.
