Porvorim: After claiming to be restricted within his laksham-rekha of Porvorim constituency, former Revenue Minister Rohan Khaunte has now announced his intentions to play a wider role in the politics of Tiswadi and Bardez taluka.
Khaunte, who was dropped from Pramod Sawant-led cabinet along with Goa Forward Party’s Vijai Sardesai, Vinod Paliencar and Jayesh Salgaonkar, has now said that he would be en-cashing on the good will that he has generated in certain assembly constituencies of Tiswadi and Bardez.
The former minister has also said that dropping from the cabinet has come as a ‘blessing in disguise’ for him, as after his exit from the cabinet, there were several people who came forward to express their support.
“I have lot of good will in the constituencies in Tiswadi and Bardez. I will like to now play a wider role in the politics of these two talukas,” Khaunte toldwww.goanewshub.com in an exclusive interview.
He said that his work in the departments of Revenue and Information and Technology has earned him much good will amongst the people. “I never realized the support till I was dropped from the cabinet and many like-minded people started approaching me,” he said.
Khaunte refused to divulge whether he would like to float a political party or go as an Independent with like-minded people. On asked whether it’s a big no for BJP in future, the Porvorim MLA said that “you can’t shut doors on anyone in politics.”
He has assured full cooperation to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and current IT minister Jeniffer Monserratte in taking ahead the initiatives like push to the start-ups which was designed during his tenure.
The MLA, however, said that there are attempts made to disturb him in his constituency by some leaders of BJP. He said that the state government’s inaction towards the illegalities in Serula Communidade speaks volume about CM’s claims about non-corrupt governance.
