Panaji: Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte has raised his dissatisfaction over the way State Election Commission has reserved the wards.

Khaunte said that the triple test was done and entire data was given to the State Election Commission. “But I don’t know on what basis, the reservations are done,” he said.

Khaunte pointed out that at ward number 7 of Succoro panchayat and ward number 9 of Salvador do Mundo have been reserved for OBC where there is minimal OBC population.

“Similar instances are reported at Calangute, Saligao, Pernem, Mandrem and many areas where MlAs are trying to understand what it is,” he said.

Khaunte said that he has raised the issue with the State government and the chief minister.

“The free and fair election should take place.  The way they have given it may not give right candidate. There may be a candidate but will not get to contest. SEC should demarcate areas properly and not sit in the room and decide the reservation.”
