Verenkar said that he had written letters to the Chief Minister, PWD and other concerned offices to repair and hotmix the roads, which were damaged due to the work of Sewerage Corporation. “People of Ponda have shown their patience since the Sewerage Corporation had started work of laying pipelines in the city and some parts of Curti-Khandepar panchayat area. However, this corporation has always taken people for granted and has failed to complete the work on time and repair the roads.” Verenkar alleged.
He said that last year, during the rainy season, accidents had taken place due to the rough roads. “We have seen heavy vehicles ramming into sewerage chambers, raising doubts of construction standards.” He added.
Verenkar informed that PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar had promised people of Ponda to complete the Sewerage work by May15th and subsequently to take up the work of hotmixing of roads. “He has not kept his promise. PWD has failed to repair the roads, that too from the heart of the city.” Verenkar said.
Verenkar said that PWD minister Pauskar and the BJP government will be responsible if any untoward incident occurs on the damaged roads of Ponda during the rainy season.
