Aam Aadmi Party has demanded that the government should give relief to the common man from exorbitantly high electricity bills issued during the past two months and go for lowering of VAT on fuel. AAP Youth Leader Lourenco Silva said that high prices of diesel and petrol was putting additional burden on the common man who was reeling under the weight of inflated electricity bills. He said that unemployment was at an all time high and spending power of the people was so weak that instead of helping tide over difficulties, people were further burdened by an insensitive government.
Meanwhile AAP welcomed the move by the Kejriwal government to reduce vat on diesel to 16.75% as high diesel prices was having having a inflationary effect on the economy. Silva said that Goa Govt must seriously think of revival of the economy by bringing down prices on fuel as public transport was still not restored in most places in Goa thus forcing people to use their own car or motorcycle. He said that many people had either lost jobs or were working at reduced salaries and there was no signal of any help coming from the government. He said that on the contrary, even the allotment of ₹6000/- each meant for poor construction workers had been diverted into the hands of BJP party workers showing that the government was itself allowing loot of public resources for electoral prospects of the party.
