Panaji: Goa Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Monday lashed out at Goa Congress Chief Girish Chodankar over his statement accusing the former of being involved in a ‘ivermectin scam.’
Goa government has decided to administer ivermectin tablets to its population as a part of prophylaxis treatment against COVID-19.
Chodankar on Monday said that the ivermectin was a scam.
The Congress leader tweeted “#Ivermectin ‘Scam from Scam by @BJP4Goa Government’s @goacm @DrPramodPSawant and Health Minister @visrane. After @INCGoa warning against use of said tablets without clinical trials as per @WHO guidelines, Rs 22.50 crores #Ivermectin tablets disappeared. #Golmaal exposed.”
In a series of tweets, Rane lambasted Chodankar. “It looks like the Congress party needs better fact-checking tools. @WHO shares broad guidelines, countries/states have been given the flexibility to evolve and make their own set of treatment protocols. Prophylaxis treatment has been recommended by a group of experts.”
“We wish @INCGoa and Mr @girishgoa eradicate as swiftly as we are trying to eradicate the Coronavirus and make the state functional and ‘disease’ free again,” he said in another tweet.
Rane also tweeted “I would like to know Mr @girishgoa’s contribution to the state of Goa. The @BJP4Goa Government has done what Congress could not do, cater to state-of-art and quality treatment to the citizens of the state during this unprecedented time.”
“If Mr @girishgoa wants to have a debate, please come with updated and clear cut facts. Many states have replicated Goa’s model of prophylaxis treatment, may be Mr Girish Chodankar is unaware of this and needs better tool to under current affairs,” he tweeted.
