Porvorim | 20 May 2025: Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Shet Tanavade attended a review meeting on the implementation of the MPLADS (Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme) at the Secretariat, Porvorim.
The meeting was chaired by Chief Secretary Dr. V. Candavelou, IAS, and was attended by South Goa MP Capt. Viriato Fernandes, North Goa Collector Yashashwini B, IAS, South Goa Collector Igna Cleetus, IAS, Secretary Sandeep Jacques, IAS, and other senior officials.
Tanavade reviewed the progress of ongoing and proposed projects under MPLADS in both North and South Goa. A total of 17 projects have been recommended so far, of which 4 have been sanctioned and are already operational. These include two school buses, one hearse van, and the construction of three classrooms for a school. The recommended projects are spread across various constituencies.
The Rajya Sabha MP emphasised the timely completion of approved works, transparency in execution, and resolving any challenges faced during implementation. He also appreciated the efforts of both District Collectors, officials and staff, and encouraged continued coordination to ensure the proper use of MPLADS funds for public benefit.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to improve processes and monitoring so the scheme delivers its intended results effectively.
