Raj Bhavan to publish five books on Monday

Panaji: Goa Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai on Saturday announced the publishing of five books in Konkani, Marathi, and English under Raj Bhavan’s scheme of Nayi Pahel.Pillai said that he would unveil all five books on May 29 in the presence of Jnanpith Award winner writer Damodar Mauzo.He stated that the books are written by authors Sanjay Ramesh Salelkar (Konkani), Pallavi Polekar (Marathi), Adv Manohar Adpaikar (Marathi), and two books by Pachu Menon in English.The Governor said that the last February, the Raj Bhavan had declared an innovative scheme for new writers where they (Raj Bhavan) would sponsor the cost of printing and publishing books for new writers in Konkani, Marathi, Hindi, and Sanskrit. He said that later, English also included in the scheme.He said that the books could be that of fiction, non-fiction, poems, autobiography, anthology of stories.The Raj Bhavan may not involved in the sale process of an book but will help the new writers to come up and prove their creative talent in literature, he said.The Governor said that the at present, in the literary world, the road to reward and recognition is always a hard struggle specially for people from weaker sections of the society.
