Panaji: The timely intervention of two Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel saved the life of a 66-year-old man from Osmanabad, Maharashtra, at Margao Railway Station on Sunday.

A senior Railway Protection Force officer said the incident occurred at 7 p.m. when the Matsyagandha Express heading from Margao to Mumbai was leaving the station.

When the train began to move, Ganesh Limraj (66) tried to jump off from the general compartment and got stuck between the platform and the train.

Two RPF personnel — Head Constable R. S. Bhai and Constable Kapil Saini — rushed to assist the passenger and pulled him to safety just in time, preventing him from being crushed under the wheels of the train, the officer said.

The passenger was unharmed in the incident.
