Panaji: Public Works Department (PWD) contractual workers under the banner of All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) today held demonstration in capital city demanding regularization in the service.
The workers have demanded to abolish the PWD contractual workers society, which is a temporary status granted.
The workers have demanded that those who have completed three years into service be regularised and as per Supreme Court direction equal pay for equal work system be implemented.
“We have been continuously putting across our demands before government. However, rather than regularizing us, PWD has illegally recruited around 400 workers with temporary status past few years,” union leader Raju Mangeshkar said.
He said that we will continue our agitation mounting pressure on the government till our demands are met.
