Permission for railway double tracking must be withdrawn immediately: Digambar Kamat

Panaji: Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat on Friday warned that the scheduled demonstration against the three mega projects proposed namely railway double tracking, widening of national highway and laying of power transmission line, might lead to law and order problem. In view of this, Kamat demanded immediate withdrawal of permission granted to the South Western railway/ Railway Vikas Nigam limited for closure of level crossing road.
He also demanded that all works pertaining to railway double tracking must be asked to stop immediately.
In a letter issued to South Goa District Collector on Friday, Kamat stated, “the people of Goa and now coming on roads protesting against the government decision to allow the South Western railway to carry out the work of double tracking. Strong protests were made during the closure of level crossing at Nessai on October 28. The protest will continue during the next scheduled closure of level crossing road at Guirdolim, Chandor on November 2 and at Davorlim village on November 9. There is every possiblity that the strong opposition to the to the double tracking work may lead to law and order problem.”
