Panaji – The part time Governor of Goa Bhagat Singh Koshyari has put Goa to shame with his unconstitutional act of administering the Oath of Office to the new toothless Goa Lokayukta Justice(Rtd) Ambadas Joshi through video conferencing. The new Lokayukta has let down the people of Goa by accepting the post which is made toothless by the BJP Government stated GPCC president Girish Chodankar while addressing media at Congress house Panjim along with Varad Mardolkar, YC president, Vivek D’silva, YC North District, Archit Naik, YC General Secretary and Himanshyu Tivrekar Mapuca YC President.
Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari had time to meet film actress Kangana Ranaut in Maharashtra, but he did not find it important to remain present in person for the swearing-in of a constitutional authority. There is other side to it also, may be Governor must have realised that this ceremony is just another ritual which will not have any meaning Girish Chodankar said.
He further claimed that people of Goa were expecting Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari would come to Goa to monitor deteriorating Covid situation with rising deaths and Covid positive cases which are creating new records every day. His predecessor Satyapal Malik had pro-actively taken charge of the situation last year and had given much needed relief to people. Unfortunately, part time Governor has no time for suffering Goans Girish Chodankar said.
BJP Government after coming to power in 2014 bulldozed each and every constitutional and democratic institution in the country. They converted the Office of Governor as Ceremonial post. The only exception was former Governor of Goa Satya Pal Malik who dared to pinch the government when they went wrong.
It is unfortunate that persons like Bhagat Singh Koshyari have forgotten their constitutional obligations and are occupying the positions to enjoy the priviledges. They have no regards for the democratic values as well as the sentiments of people.
We once again reiterate our demand that the new Goa Lokayukta must explain to the people of Goa whether he has come on a holiday or to do justice. He must explain Goans, how can he deliver justice when the act itself is weak and toothless demanded Girish Chodankar.
