Panaji: The by-election for Panaji Asssembly segment in Goa, the seat which has fallen vacant after demise of former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, would be held on May 19, a senior election commission official said.
The by-election for Panaji Assembly Constituency would be held along with five others in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
“The polling for Panaji Assembly by-election would be held on May 19, while votes would be counted along with other Lok Sabha and Assembly by-elections which are scheduled to be held on April 23,” the officer from Chief Electoral Office said.
The notification for election in Panaji Assembly constituency would be issued on April 22 while last date of nomination is April 29. The applications would be scrutinized on April 30 while last date of withdrawal is May 02.
The model code of conduct is already imposed in the State which will vote for two Lok Sabha and three Assembly constituencies on April 23.
Parrikar who was representing the constituency had expired on March 17.
