Panaji: Goa Forward Party’s Chief Spokesman Trajano D’Mello today justified the opposition for simultaneous election for Parliament and State assembly claiming that separate elections helps regional issues to be made the poll plank.
“Our party is opposing to the simultaneous elections of Parliament and State government. Our party president has made his stand clear during a meeting in Delhi,” he told reporters today.
D’Mello said that Sardesai has made a strong c ase against holding simultaneous elections. “Many people are asking us why do we oppose simultaneous elections. Our stand is very clear. As a regional party, want to take issues of regional interest,” he said.
“If simultaneous elections are held, the regional issues would be at the backseat and national issues would be discussed. This is the reason why we are opposing for simultaneous elections,” he added.
