Opposition creates ruckus on the floor after govt sought postponement of replies

Panaji: The first day of legislative Assembly session began with the opposition rushing to the well of the House, protesting against frequent postponement of the questions tabled by them.
The opposition benches including Goa Forward Party MLAs Vijai Sardesai, Jayesh Salgaonkar and Vinod Palekar rushed to the well of the House when Speaker Rajesh Patnekar allowed postponement of the questions, which were listed during the Question Hour on Monday.
Independent MLA Rohan Khaunte, Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat, Congress MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco also joined other opposition benches.
In his ruling, the Speaker requested the members that they should not ask questions that are too detailed. “It is right of the minister to postpone the reply, when the answer is too detailed,” he said.
Patnekar said “I request the members should not ask questions, that too, detailed bcause it has to be collected, collated and given within the time limit, as the minister has to verify the information tabled because minister is held responsible for the information that he has submitted.”
The opposition were upset after Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant sought postponement of the replies to the questions on deaths due to COVID-19 and grabbing of the community lands.
State Health Minister Vishwajit Rane was absent on the floor of the House. The Speaker said that Rane has informed the House that he is unwell.
The opposition benches were not happy with the ruling of the Speaker and continued creating ruckus on the floor of the House. The Speaker adjourned the Session till 12.30 noon.
