Opening up tourism without any restriction in December has led to current situation: Vishwajit Rane

Panaji: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane has said that opening up of the state without any restriction in December, January and February has led to the current COVID-19 situation in the State.

Talking to CNN on Friday night, Rane said “Goa being preferred destination, we had thousands of visitors coming in Goa.”

“We had very less restrictions at that point of time. We had whole of India coming into the state of Goa in December, January and February and I had already alerted our health authorities that we need to be prepared because we are going to the face the situation some point of time.”

“Opening of tourism without any restriction in December has led to the current situation in Goa.” “We have 51 per cent and above positivitiy which is highest in the country.”
