Panaji: Governor Dr Mridula Sinha has granted the assent for the ordinance related to one month’s extension for the date to receive applications for regularizing the illegal structures on private properties.

Following request from MLAs and the public, State government has decided to extend the deadline for making applications to regularize illegal structure by another 30 days. The deadline was extended, twice in the past.

The cut-off date of February 28, 2014 will be considered for regularizing the structures.

“What was promised has been delivered. After considering requests from the MLAs across party line and public to help them plea all genuine cases, we have extended our deadline for filing applications to regularize unauthorized structures by another 30 days with the passing of an ordinance with the help of Chief Minister,” Revenue Minister Rohan Khaunte tweeted.

Khaunte further said that the deadline is applicable only four houses constructed in private land before February 28, 2014.

State government had in 2016 introduced the Bill called Goa Regularization of Unauthorized Construction, allowing regularization of structures in one’s private property.
