Aam Aadmi Party has said that the incapability of the government to do something as simple as establish a Covid testing centre in the Cuncolim IDC for the people there and around, served as a reminder to the words of Lokayukta that only God can save Goa.
AAP Goa Convenor Elvis Gomes who himself hails from Cuncolim said that outbreak of Covid in Industrial Area of Cuncolim should have been dealt with in all seriousness to avoid community transmission. He said that the Government, IDC and Industries association with all resources at their disposal had ignored requests made so far for a covid care and testing centre that was a pressing need and left people to face an uncertain future. Gomes has raised the issue last week by even writing to the collector to step in stating about cases in ‘Ximplear’ near IDC. He claimed that so far no response was received from the Collector.
“Who requires this Industry, IDC and a Government that do not respond to the need of the people? Infamous that it is for polluting all natural resources such as air, water and land , the industry should have spent their CSR funds without even waiting for a ‘sluggish government’ to take action. Industry should be with the people in these trying times” said Gomes stating that the only option left is to move the High Court to obtain relief for the people who were extremely anxious and agitated.
