Panaji: Ruling out the possibility of amending the Goa Public Gambling Act, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar today said that restrictions on functioning of casinos can be imposed even within the existing law.

“There is no need to undertake amendment to the Gambling Act. In the existing Act itself there are provisions to impose restrictions on the casino functioning. There are enough powers in the existing law and we are studying it,” Parrikar told reporters.

“There are enough provisions within the law,” he added.

It may be recalled that Parrikar had earlier last year announced to amend the Gambling Act to facilitate the casino policy.
