Porvorim: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday said that there is no shortage of domestic LPG or petroleum products in the state, urging people not to resort to panic buying.

Long queues were witnessed outside petrol pumps since last night across the coastal state, following rumours of a shortage of petroleum products.

Sawant told reporters in Panaji that people should not panic unnecessarily or resort to buying beyond the required limit.

He said that there is no need to fill tanks and carry petrol in cans back home, as there is enough stock available in the state.

Sawant said that the petrol and diesel available in the state are sufficient for 15 days.

As far as domestic cylinders are concerned, he said there is no shortage in the state. People need not buy extra cylinders and keep them, he said, adding that regular supply is ongoing.

About commercial cylinders, the chief minister said that the supply has been cut down to 20 per cent.

He said that restaurants have been asked to apply for PNG connections, after which they can be provided an additional 20 per cent cylinders.
