Panaji: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday said that there is no decision taken on starting of the new academic year in the state, which has been delayed due to ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Interacting with the students, Sawant said that starting of the academic year will be decided depending on the guidelines of Union Ministry of Home Affairs.
“When we are facing pandemic situation, we are not sure when exactly the schools and colleges will start,” he said.
Sawant said that the state government will start tenth and twelfth standard classes during the first phase, when academic year begins, following which the other standards will be started.
Responding to another question, Sawant said that the state government will appoint ‘agencies’ to guide the students to appear for competitive examination.
He said that next year, six colleges in the state will be have centres for guidance and awareness of the students to appear for competitive exams.
“We have already floated RFQ for the same inviting interest from the agencies,” the Chief minister said.
The Chief minister, also said that the state government is aware about the financial constraints faced by the students while applying for the admission for professional colleges.
Sawant said that the state government will tie up with the Nationalised Banks to provide interest free funding for the students to make up for the fees for professional colleges.
