Panaji: Niz Goemkar Revolutionary Front (NGRF) has raised its objection to Archbishop’s plant to celebrate feast of St Joseph Vaz within the protected areas of Fronticepiece of Sancoale.
A letter raising objection is been submitted by NGRF president Prashant Vast to Directorate of Archives and Archaeology.
“I would like to bring to your notice that last year illegal activities have taken place within the heritage site of protected areas o Fronticepiece of Sancoale. There has been illegal excavation, leveling and construction within protected area,” Vast said.
He stated that in January 2018, feast of St Joseph Vaz was organized in the area without obtaining permission but it is not a customary religious practice of Fronticepiece of Sancoale. “It is come to our knowledge that the Archbishop is planning to organize the feast in January 2019. This poses serious safety threat to the devotees if feast is organized at the site,” Vast said.
