Panaji: The Narcotics Control Bureau Goa unit in a raid has recovered 532 grams of Methamphetamine arresting two persons including a Rajasthan based kingpin.
As per press note released here by the NCB, the raid was conducted at Candolim village in North Goa during which the drugs was seized. The NCB has said that the arrested persons were involved in previously in drug trafficking too.
The NCB said that initially, input was received wherein an interstate syndicate was operating the illicit drug business in Goa.
“It was informed that due to strict checking at various checkpoints at airports, parcel offices and land routes also, and Goa being the tourist attraction, a locally operated syndicate was eyeing opportunity to provide narcotic drugs supply into the illegal drug circuit,” the NCB said.
Accordingly, various intelligence sources were alerted to detect the activity.
The NCB said that they received information about a Rajasthan based person named J.Singh who was having suspicious linkages in Goa.
“Few days ago, it was observed that J.Singh had reached Goa. Immediate information collection indicated about this business trip for a concluding a drug deal,” the agency said.
On March 27, the NCB upon confirmation about possession of drug in bulk quantity intercepted him which resulted in recovery of 532 grams Methamphetamine.
“A vehicle of him which was being used for drug deliveries has also been seized from the spot. Further, during the investigation, an associate named R.Singh was apprehended who was providing the logistical support to J.Singh for carrying out the drug deal in Goa,” the NCB has said in a press note.
The agency said that J.Singh has returned to India last year only after working abroad.
“As stated in voluntary statement, J.Singh was in need of quick money and was convinced that he earn as such through the illicit drug business. He motivated his long time friend R.Singh based in Goa into the drug business,” the NCB said.
The NCB has said that both the arrested persons belong to same native place due to which they were known to each other for long time.
“Thereafter, J.Singh plotted the scheme to procure the drugs and supply it into Goa with help of his friend R.Singh who was already established contact base in various platforms,” he said.
