National Games: Three players injured, one operated at Goa Medical College and Hospital

Panaji: A Rugby player from Maharashtra team had to be operated and two others including a weightlifter was admitted to Goa Medical College and Hospital near here when they suffered injury during the ongoing National Games 2023.

A senior official said that three players including Biswa Varghuse (26) from Kerala, Bharat Chauhan (27) from Maharashtra and Soham Shirodkar (25) from Goa were admitted in GMCH after their suffered injuries during the National Games.

Bharat Chauhan, a Rugby player from Maharashtra team, had to be operated at Goa Medical College and Hospital near here when he was admitted after suffering injury on October 25 at 9.15 pm.

Biswa Varghuse, a weight lifting player from Kerala team, was admitted to GMCH on October 24 at 2.30 pm. Goan rugby player Sohan Shirodkar was admitted on October 25 at 9.45 pm.

GMCH has set up a special ward to cater to the needs of the National Games 2023 which are currently underway in Goa.
State sports minister Govind Gaude on Thursday paid visit to all the three players assuring them all the help in their recovery. Gaude interacted with all the three players.
Talking to reporters, Gaude said that the GMCH has set up medical facility for the players participating in the National Games. He said that the state government will ensure that all the players are taken care of.
