Panaji: Hours after his meeting with rebel BJP leader Kiran Kandolkar, Utpal Parrikar said that his integrity towards the party should not be under cloud, at any cost.
Parrikar told “Goan Reporter website” that he gave audience to Kandolkar as he wanted to meet him.
“There was nothing confidential in it. If I wanted, I could have avoided clicking picture with him, or would have met at some secret place,” he said.
Parrikar said that Kandolkar was amongst those leaders who were brought under one roof by his father. “So, it is my duty to give him audience when he asks for it,” he said.
Utpal said that there should not be any doubt his integrity towards the party. “There should not be any doubt. I will be following the principles and footsteps of my father,” he said.
He denied that Kandolkar was sidelined by the party. “Everyone has to work with their people,” he commented.
