Porvorim: Goa police have booked a 26-year-old mother for forcing her two minor sons to drink phenyl before trying to commit suicide by drinking the same at her residence at Porvorim, near Panaji.
A senior police official said that all the three including her two sons — three and five years of age — are critical and are admitted to the hospital.
Father of the children filed complaint with Porvorim police station that on July 1 at around 11.30 am, his wife tried to kill her both the sons by feeding them phenyl.
The complaint mentions that she also consumed the liquid due to which all three fell unconscious.
Police said that all three were immediately shifted to the hospital. While the mother is being treated in a private hospital, both the minor sons are currently undergoing treatment at Goa Medical College and Hospital.
Police have booked the mother under section 109 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (attempt to murder) and Section 8 (2) of Goa Children’s Act.
Police Sub Inspector Laureen Sequeira is conducting further investigation, he said.
