New Delhi: The Cruise Bharat Mission (CBM), launched by the Government of India on September 30, 2024, has significantly boosted cruise tourism in Goa, with Mormugao Port reporting 38 cruise vessel calls, 67,594 passenger footfalls, and revenue of ₹4.82 crore between October 2024 and June 2025.
Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal, in a written reply to a question raised by Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Shet Tanavade, said the Mission provides a framework for coordinated interventions across ministries and agencies, including Customs, Immigration, CISF, State Tourism Departments, and Maritime Agencies.
The initiative aims to generate around 0.4 million jobs by 2029, while also strengthening Goa’s coastal infrastructure, cruise terminal facilities, and allied tourism services.
Officials said the Mission is expected to create major opportunities for employment, local entrepreneurship, and sectors such as hospitality and transport in the coastal state.
