Vasco: The death of an aged lady yesterday at near St Jacinto Island when a tree collapsed on a car in which she was travelling, was a tragedy which was waiting to happen.
The uncontrolled hill cutting along the road stretch right under the nose of authorities has resulted in tree roots getting weakened. These trees often fall on the road, which is a main link connecting Vasco to Panaji.
The locals are complaining that there has been no action against the violators. They have demanded immediate steps to ensure that more trees don’t fall taking away more lives on this stretch.
