Panaji:The rains have got various parts of the state witnessing low lying areas going under water. The normal life in the State has been affected.

The Indian Met Department has predicted the spell to continue till June 22. The department has asked the public to abstain from moving outdoor, while fishermen have also been advised against venturing in the Sea.

“In view of intense rainfall forecast, people are advised to abstain from outdoor activities as much as possible during the period of the rain and also watch for weather updates from Meteorological Centre, Goa,” IMD has said.

IMD has said that there will be “widespread moderate rainfall” activity with “heavy to very heavy spells” very likely to over South Konkan and Goa from June 20 onwards.

“Maximum intensity of rainfall is expected from June 20-22, 2018.  Extremely heavy rainfall is very likely forecasted over isolated places of North and South Goa district on June 20-21,” the IMD has said.

“Winds will be westerly to south westerly at the speed of 40-45 Kilometers per hour temporarily reaching to 50 kilometres per hour in gust or squall” The department has also warned that the Sea will be rough with Westerly to South Westerly waves. “Fishermen are advised not to go out in the Sea during next 24 hours.
