Monsoon season ends; withdrawal will take time – Met dept

Panaji: Even though the four-month long monsoon season officially ended on Monday, the Indian Meteorological department (IMD) has said that the withdrawal of south-west monsoons will take atleast a fortnight.

After a initial 14 percent deficit rains due to delay of monsoon activity, the season ended with 33 percent surplus, the highest after 2011, that had recorded 29 percent surplus rains.

The 2019 season recorded 3943.8mm (155.3 inches) of rains.
