Margao: Various Congress office bearers on Thursday issued a media statement condemning BJP Goa Unit President Sadanand Shet Tanavade for broad daylight murder of goldsmith Swpnil Walke.
” We strongly condemn the act of BJP President Sadanand Tanavade who blamed the Margao MLA Digambar Kamat and Citizens of Margao for the daylight murder of a young jeweler yesterday. We want to know why the top brass of the BJP hurriedly descended to Margao after the murder. After the links of BJP top brass with drugs mafia, beggar mafia, money laundering mafia have got exposed in the last few days, is it that BJP President and Organizing Secretary Satish Dhond came to Margao to protect the mastermind behind the murder,” questioned Margao Block Congress President Gopal Naik.
The Councillors and Citizens of Margao released a Media Statement condemning the statements made by BJP office-bearers trying to give political colour to the gruesome incident.
Madgaonkars will not tolerate baseless, false, and misleading allegations against the Citizens of Margao and MLA Digambar Kamat. We want to warn all those including the BJP Office bearers and workers to stop spreading lies and misleading information defaming the Citizens of Margao and Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat, failing which Madgaonkars will be compelled to come on the streets warned former Councillor Damodar Shirodkar. He stated that the BJP is trying to divert the attention of the people from its failure to handle the law and order situation in Goa.
The murder incident in Margao has raised questions about the safety and security of the women in the State. The government must ensure that Citizens, especially women, are provided security at all times, stated former Chairperson of MMC Doris Teixeira.
The unconfirmed reports reveal that the two suspects arrested by the Police in connection with Margao murder are from North Goa. If the information is true, then the situation is alarming. Few days after the murder incident at Merces involving gangs from Santacruz and Chimbel, now the attackers from the same areas have reached Margao. The government must act strictly and the law enforcement authorities must keep a strict vigil on the movement of anti-social elements and criminals, demanded Social Worker Surendra Haldankar.
Reminding the BJP of the murder of similar nature of a Jeweller in Mapusa which had taken place on 18th September 2012, Councillor Avinash Shirodkar questioned the government on its failure to nab the murderer till date.
The ego of two Ministers of the BJP has resulted in Margao Police Station functioning without a full-time DySP after Serafino Dias was promoted as the SP stated former Councillor Dhananjay alias Dadi Mayekar. He said the BJP government must appoint a full-time DySP in Margao.
