Panaji: Goa police have arrested a man under prevention of cruelty towards animals act for tying a dog to his motorcycle and dragging him on the road for kilometres, before he died.
A senior police official said that the offence has been booked under Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act against Ashok Panhalkar, currently residing at Khorlim, Mapusa and originally from Belgaum (Karnataka).
Police had filed the case against the accused on Thursday when his video went viral on social media.
As per the complaint, the accused at 4.15 pm on September 4 tied dog to his motorcycle and dragged him, before throwing his body at the roadside.
Police said that the accused subjected the animal to cruelty by his act.
He said that the accused was arrested on Thursday, soon after filing FIR against him.
