Panaji: Goa Crime Branch on Wednesday arrested a 32-year-old man for threatening State social welfare minister Subhash Phal Desai and his family.
Superintendent of Police (Crime Branch) Rahul Gupta told reporters that on Wednesday the accused Mithil Ulhas Desai from Carmona, Revona in Sanguem taluka abused the minister, his wife and daughter on phone. With filthy words and threatened them with dire consequences on Wednesday.
As per police complaint, the accused also dishonestly tried to induce the complainant to pay Rs 20 crore, he said. Gupta said that the accused also threatened the minister to put false murder accusation.
Police have filed FIR against the accused under section 384 and 388 of IPC and section 504 and 506 of IPC.
Gupta said that the accused has been arrested and his mobile phone has been seized and incriminating messages have been recovered.
