Main Accused Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra Fled to Phuket Hours After Tragedy

Panaji: Two of the main accused in Goa nightclub fire case – Saurabh Luthra and Gaurav Luthra — have flown out of the country, hours after the tragic incident, Goa police said.

As per the statement issued by Goa Police, both the accused went to Phuket on December 7 at 5.30 am.

Total 25 people were killed when Birch by Romeo Lane at Arpora, a night club owned by Luthras caught fire on Saturday night (December 6).

Goa police have filed First Information Report against both the accused under various sections.

A senior official from Goa police said that soon after the institution of FIR, police moved swiftly and despatched a team to Delhi to conduct raid on the addresses of the accused Gaurav and Saurabh Luthra.

“Since they were not available , a notice under appropriate sections of law was pasted on the gate of their house,” he said.

The official said that by December 7, the Look Out Circular was issued against both the accused by Bureau of Intelligence (BOI) at the request of Goa Police.
He said that further Bureau of Immigration at Mumbai was contacted and it was found that both the accused had taken 6E 1073 flight to Phuket at 5.30 am on December 7, that is immediately after the incident which had taken place around midnight.

The official said that it shows their intent to avoid the police investigation.
“Goa police has taken further steps to coordinate with the Interpol Division of CBI to apprehend both Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra at the earliest,” he said.
Meanwhile, the police said that they have apprehended one Bharat Kohli from Delhi and obtained his transit remand for bringing him to Goa for further questioning.

He also said that the postmortem on all the 25 deceased has been completed and bodies handed over to their families.
