Margao: Civic group Madganvcho Awaaz, along with Youth Leader Prabhav Naik, has questioned the feasibility and viability of the proposed Hydraulic Parking Project in Margao. In a letter to the Member Secretary of the Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA), Prabhav Naik highlighted the challenges posed by Goa’s humid coastal climate, which can accelerate rusting, and the high maintenance and skilled manpower requirements of hydraulic systems.

Naik noted that the Margao Municipal Council already faces difficulties maintaining its existing infrastructure and questioned how it would manage a complex system like hydraulic parking. He requested GSUDA clarify whether any feasibility or technical studies have been conducted, how similar projects have performed elsewhere in Goa, and details of the financial and operational model.

“Citizens deserve to know who will handle maintenance, manpower, and whether consultants have proven experience in coastal regions,” he said.

Naik also linked the project to broader urban development plans, stating, “The Chief Minister recently presented the Margao Master Plan 2041 and promised Smart City development through central funds. We need to know if this hydraulic parking project aligns with that vision or is just another piecemeal initiative.”

He concluded by emphasizing transparency and accountability in public spending, stating that Madganvcho Awaaz will continue advocating for well-planned and sustainable urban solutions for Margao.
