Land grabbing cases: Goa govt appoints inquiry commission led by Retd HC Judge

Panaji:  Goa government on Tuesday announced formation of a one-member inquiry commission to investigate into the landgrabbing cases registered in the State and also suggest recommendation to avoid their recurrence .

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant told reporters that one man commission comprising Retired High Court Justice V K Jadhav has been constituted to investigate into the land grabbing cases and also suggest how to avoid their recurrence in the future.

Sawant said that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed to investigate into landgrabbing related offences have registered 111 cases so far involving 93 lands and properties measuring 1.5 lakh square metres.

He said that 15 accused including the officials from State Revenue and Archives and Archeology department have been so far arrested in various land grabbing cases while efforts are on to track down those who are ‘absconding.’
