Margao: After tragic accident at Kerala, Goa Forward Party Chief Vijai Sardesai on Saturday raised concerns about the short runway at proposed Greenfield airport at Mopa in North Goa.
The airport which is being built and would be operated by GMR Goa International Airport Limited is scheduled to be operational by March 2022.
Sardesai said that last night we had an devastating aircrash in Kerala as the aircraft supposedly overshot the runway.
“Shockingly our Government of Goa has in July this year resolved to reduce the length of the runway at the proposed Mopa airport,” he said.
“Goans can decide what is going on under present government,” he added.
Earlier this year, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had announced that state government and GMR Goa International Airport Limited have agreed to reduce the length of runway for the underconstruction airport at Mopa to 3.5 km from 3.75 km.
