Panaji: The Goa Crime Branch has arrested a woman from Kenya living in Bengaluru for trafficking women from her country to states like Goa.
The Crime Branch arrested Nancy Kingori from Kenya in Bengaluru after they received a complaint from one of the victims about the accused being involved in trafficking women from her country to Goa.
A police spokesman said that on March 03, 2025, the Crime Branch had registered a complaint against the accused after the victim complained that she was brought from Kenya and forced into prostitution.
She said that the Kenyan accused had been involved in such activities since November 18, 2024.
The police spokesman said that the investigation began after filing an FIR against the accused under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act and relevant sections of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita.
“During the course of the investigation, a team led by Lady Police Sub-Inspector Pragati Malik and staff of the Crime Branch Police Station was formed and sent to Bangalore to trace the accused lady,” he said.
The spokesman said that with the help of technical surveillance, the accused was apprehended in Bengaluru and brought to Goa on March 13.
