PANAJI: AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Friday termed the tourist taxi operators in the state as Brand Ambassadors of Goa’s Tourism.
Addressing a public meeting in South Goa in the presence of Delhi’s Leader of Opposition Atishi Marlena, Kejriwal accused the government of creating hurdles in the way of earning an honest living for taxi drivers.
“Whichever government comes to power forces taxi drivers to take the wrong way and then harasses them,” Kejriwal said.
He stated that once AAP comes to power, it will ensure that taxi operators are allowed to have an honest living.
Kejriwal, who is in Goa to campaign for the party’s Zilla Panchayat candidates, said that he wanted to have a “heart-to-heart” conversation with taxi operators.
Goa is going for Zilla Panchayat elections on December 20.
He said that taxi stands are part of Goan culture and taxi operators are brand ambassadors of Goa’s tourism industry.
Kejriwal hailed his party MLA Venzy Viegas as “the only MLA who takes up the issue of taxi operators in the Goa Legislative Assembly.”
Kejriwal arrived in Goa on Thursday on his three-day-long visit to the state.
