Kapil Jhaveri’s Cooperative bank is likely to be under CB scanner

Panaji: Launching a detailed investigations, the Crime Branch will also have on its radar the affairs of Triumalla Tirupati MultiState Cooperative Credit Society Limited, a financial institution run by disgraced actor Kapil Jhaveri.

CB sources stated that State Home Ministry has given clear directions to probe in depth about the roots of the rave party which was hosted by Jhaveri at Vagator. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has asked the investigating officers not to spare anyone, who is found guilty in the entire drug racket, which is an important step to eradicate narcotics from the coastal belt.

Jhaveri was active in the state with his cooperative credit society, that has set up its branches across the State. The questionmark is also now raised whether he was using this financial institution for money laundering.

Crime Branch is also investigating Jhaveri’s role in paddling of drugs and his closeness to various clubs located in the coastal belt.

Triumalla Tirupati MultiState Cooperative Credit Society Limited has accepted savings of hundreds of people, specially in South Goa. An ex close-aide of one of the former Chief Minister of Goa has been heading the operations of this bank in the state.

Several youth especially from Scheduled Tribe community in Quepem, Sanguem and Canacona have invested in this bank expecting to make quick bucks.

  1. Heading is misleading. It is not a bank but only a credit society.
    Reporters should have rudimentary knowledge of the sector before such news are published .This ignorance would lead the public to believe that a cooperative bank has collapsed. It would be a decent gesture to print a correction and apologize.
