Panaji: Stating that public can follow rules when the traffic movement becomes hassle free and convenient, Leader of Opposition Digamber Kamat today urged Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho to defer implementation of new traffic rules till public are provided with basic infrastructure required to drive safe.

Kamat was basically referring to the poor road conditions across the State. All the major State, district as well as interior city roads are full of potholes, with government failing to clear them off.

“I urge @goacm and @MauvinGodinho to defer implementation of New Traffic Rules as per Motor Vehicle Act 2019 till basic infrastructure is made available to the public for safe, secured and smooth driving and ensure safety of pedestrians,” Kamat tweeted today morning.

He further tweeted that he is of the firm opinion that all those who use roads should strictly follow the rules. “This can be achieved only when the movement becomes hassle free and convenient. Sometimes obstructions force to break rules,” Kamat tweeted.
