Panaji: The Goan Fisherman Association has sought State government’s intervention in resolving their matter with Karnataka, who have stopped vehicles with fish from Goa from entering their State.
Association President Harshad Gomes said that the association has already approached Health Minister Vishwajit Rane to find a solution; however, there is no response from the Minister so far.
“The Goan’s fish trucks from Panjim, Betul and Vasco have stopped on the border and the fish is getting spoiled. Due to the ban imposed on import, Karnataka has stopped our vehicles from entering their State with fish,” he said.
The Association has demanded that high-tech lab be set up in Margao wholesale fish market to clear doubts of the local consumers regarding formalin.
