Latambarcem: Despite having only 10 per cent of its population as Other Backward Classes (OBC) it was unjust to reserve the Latambarcem Zilla Panchayat constituency for OBC, said ZP member Sanjay Shetye.
The notification for reservation of ZP was issued yesterday along with the schedule for upcoming polls.
As per the report in Goan Varta Marathi newspaper, Shetye said that nearly 90 per cent of the population in Latambarcem constituency is non-OBC. But just to favour one particular person, this seat has been reserved, he alleged.
He said that during his tenure he implemented several developmental projects and reached to every household. But despite this only to help one person, entire constituency has been reserved, which is unjust.
Shetye said that though the constituency is reserved and he cannot contest, his social work will continue.
