Panaji, Goa: JCI Panaji has taken a meaningful step towards sustainability and environmental conservation by launching the One LO Sustainable Project in collaboration with the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) and the Goa Forest Development Corporation.

As part of this initiative, JCI Panaji identified strategic locations across Panaji and planted several saplings of medicinal plants, reinforcing the importance of biodiversity and the preservation of traditional healing resources.

The inauguration was held in Panaji, with Rohit Monserrate, Mayor of CCP, gracing the event as Chief Guest. The Mayor commended the efforts of JCI Panaji, noting that grassroots projects play a vital role in keeping Panaji clean, green, and sustainable. He encouraged more youth-led organizations to come forward with similar initiatives, stressing that civic bodies and citizen groups working together can make a long-term impact on the city’s environment.

Also present were Deu Tukaram Khavnekar (Forest Range Officer), Amit Rajaram Kalangutkar (Forest Guard), Gautam Kharangate (CEO, Rashtra TV), and Sandeep Kerkar (President, JCI Panaji), along with enthusiastic members of JCI Panaji.

Speaking at the launch, Sandeep Kerkar highlighted:

“Medicinal plants have a dual benefit – they support ecological balance while preserving the traditional knowledge of natural healing. Through this initiative, JCI Panaji aims to inspire Goans to create green spaces in their homes and communities.”

The event concluded with a collective pledge by JCI Panaji to nurture the saplings and expand the project further. This aligns with JCI’s global commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially Climate Action and Life on Land.
