Panaji: The much publicized Congress’ tour ‘Jana,Gana, Mana Nomon Tuka Goemkara’ seems to have impressed larger leadership within the party. The party which is trying to put its act together has been facing setback due to some of the legislature party leaders unhappy with the selection of Girish Chodankar as its chief.
The launch of such an ambitious tour connecting party to the Goans had fewer leaders including Leader of Opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar, GPCC chief Girish Chodankar and St Cruz legislator Tony Fernandes. Rest of the CLP did not turn up for the event.
AICC Secretary A Chellakumar showed a brave face by projecting entire tour to the ‘agitation’ which will end only when Governor Mridula Sinha dismisses the current government.
The open rebel within Congress has been Curtorim legislator Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco who has been speaking openly against the party through social networking website Facebook.
Reginaldo after his series of comments attacking congress had later withdrawn it. But could not resist from making the statement again when on Sunday he responded to a comment stating “I mean what I say and face the consequences too.” He was referring to his own series of comments posted by his friend.
Chodankar seems to be downplaying the dissident against him in the party. Right from the day he was appointed till date, there are many of the legislators who are unhappy.
When asked about the frequent comments by Reginaldo, Chodankar said “they are the personal opinion of Reginaldo. We are united in the party. If at all there are differences, we will sort it out.”
Though trying to show united face, Chodankar has a long way to go to have truce with his own partymen.
