Panaji: The Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Friday welcomed the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2026, describing it as a landmark reform that would significantly improve ease of doing business and benefit Goa’s MSME-driven economy.
In a statement, GCCI President Pratima Dhond said the legislation would promote trust-based governance, reduce compliance burden and create a more business-friendly environment in the coastal state.
The Bill seeks to decriminalise minor offences, replace imprisonment clauses with monetary penalties and provide faster adjudication mechanisms, measures that industry leaders said would particularly help entrepreneurs and small businesses.
GCCI Director General Sanjay Amonkar said the reform would provide a major boost to Goa’s micro, small and medium enterprises sector, a key contributor to the state’s economy.
He said the reduction in regulatory hurdles would encourage entrepreneurship, attract fresh investments and improve Goa’s competitiveness vis-à-vis other states in drawing capital and talent.
Amonkar said the legislation would also help reduce unnecessary litigation through faster dispute resolution, while Dhond noted that local Goan businesses would benefit from fewer court cases and quicker settlement of minor disputes.
The chamber said the reform would strengthen trust between citizens, businesses and the government, and expressed hope that its effective implementation would promote sustainable economic growth in Goa.
