Reacting to the reported news that the Crime Branch has filed a charge sheet against him in the alleged dual nationality case, Adv. Aires Rodrigues has stated that he would respond appropriately before the Court of law after receiving it as the charge sheet is obviously a very vindictive counter blast to the complaint filed by him against the ruling Canacona MLA and Deputy Speaker Isidore Fernandes which is now pending before the Panaji Court.
Adv. Rodrigues has alleged that the false, mischievous and fabricated complaint that was propelled against him in 2016 was at the instance of then Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar who personally coerced senior police officers to harass him and that the witch-hunt has continued under Pramod Sawant after he exposed the huge properties acquired by the Chief Minister during his tenures as Chairman of GSIDC and Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly.
Expressing relief that the charge sheet has been finally filed after three long years of a politically manipulated investigation, Adv. Rodrigues has expressed the hope that now the conspirators including some police officers who have acted as henchmen of the politicians to malign his name will not be spared by the long arm of the law.
Reiterating that he has never ever applied for Portuguese nationality, Adv. Rodrigues has stated that all these desperate attempts to deviously malign his name with such false and deceptive complaints would never ever deter or distract his very firm commitment to continue his over four decade long battle which began in 1975 against Corruption, Nepotism and Injustice.
Pointing out that having been born before Goa’s liberation there was no question of him applying for Portuguese nationality as he was a Portuguese at birth, Adv. Rodrigues has stated that if he had applied for Portuguese nationality after Goa’s liberation the details would have been with the Goa Government’s Home department.
Recalling that he has over the years faced many such malafied and made-up charge sheets filed by successive governments regardless of the party in power, Adv. Rodrigues has stated that such intimidatory tactics have and would never cow him down from his resolute mission to serve the people.
