Sattari:The Kevadem village farmers from Sattari Taluka have sold the 17 tonnes lady fingers to the Goa Horticulture Corporation in the month of May this year.

The farmers claim that this year, they have got a good yield, compared to the last year.

Last year their lady finger crop yield had got the Yellow Vein Mosaic virus due to which their yields had got destroyed and the farmers had faced the huge loss.

The farmers had approached Valpoi Zonal Agricultural Officer and informed them about the destruction.
Later, Valpoi Agriculture Zonal Officers had visited the site and had conducted the inspection and told the farmers that their yields had got the Yellow Vein Mosaic disease.

The Village farmers had applied for subsidy, for the loss. Till date they didnt get the subsidy of yields loss say farmers.

This year we have grown the Radhika Variety of lady fingers in our agriculture fields. We have baught that variety from Belgaum. And we are all Independent farmers. We are not getting any benefit from the Goa Agriculture Department, not even the demonstration and training session that how to grow the lady fingers and other vegetables in our village soil, says farmers Vinay Gawas.

The Kevadem village farmers demand to the Goa Government that to provide the Training Session, that how to grow the vegetables, through the ATMA.
